Dynamos have revealed they are looking for a substantive coach in the post-Paulo Jorge Silva era, as Lloyd Mutasa was only engaged on an interim capacity.
It had initially been thought Mutasa had been hired and had five games to prove himself, but club president, Keni Mubaiwa said their search for a coach to lead the Glamour Boys for the rest of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign was still on.
Mubaiwa, however, said if Mutasa proved beyond reasonable doubt he could lead the team, Dynamos could still give him the job.
“What we have done is we have appointed Lloyd Mutasa as coach on an interim basis while we are looking for a substantive coach,” he said.
“Right now, I am sure there should be applications by coaches, who want to be considered and once we get the person we want, we will make an announcement. We have not really set a target of points for Lloyd because we can get a coach at anytime. But it doesn’t mean that we are not considering him [Lloyd]. If he proves himself, he will get the job.”
Dynamos have endured a difficult start to the season winning only once in six matches.
Crucially, they have scored just two goals, results which have been met with disapproval by the team hierarchy culminating in Silva’s dismissal.
On Sunday, with Mutasa in charge, they were edged 1-0 by high-flying FC Platinum to drop to 15th on the table, where only Border Strikers sit below them.
Silva watched the match, and the fans chanted his name, calling on the club to reinstate him.
Former Dynamos captain Murape Murape and Clayton Munemo are expected to begin work today as assistants to Mutasa.
