Mass Protest Coming To Bulawayo

Bulawayo residents have expressed sympathy and support for the Harare protestors with claims that on Wednesday,July,6, a similar protest will be held in the city.

In Bulawayo yesterday it was business as usual with commuter omnibuses plying their usual routes without any disturbances.

Although there had been reports circulating on social media that commuter omnibuses would stop carrying passengers from 3pm in the afternoon, the operators continued with business as usual without any disturbances.

Some commuter omnibus drivers, who spoke to an online radio said they are in support of their colleagues in Harare and are bracing for similar protests starting Wednesday.

Bekithemba Nyathi, provincial secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, said it is good that the people are expressing their discontent over the country’s problems without any political parties involved, showing that no one is instigating them, contrary to what has been reported in the state media.

Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions women’s regional chairperson, Grace Mathe, said the majority of people in the country are disgruntled by the deteriorating economic situation in the country.

Mathe said she supports the protests and hopes that they would come to Bulawayo and also spread countrywide.

Barbara Tanyanyiwa, the national secretary of the Commercial Workers Union of Zimbabwe, expressed similar views, adding that ordinary Zimbabweans are tired of the suffering that they are experiencing.

With Monday’s protests coming soon after recent demonstrations at the Beitbridge border town over the import ban on basic commodities, there are increasing fears that the country could plunge into uncontrollable civil dissent.

Surely the fight shouldn't be between shona and Ndebele !!!! We should stand together as Zimbabwe and fight together as one nation not a divided one!! Let's make Zimbabwe a better place for All and let's do it together!!!

Lets exercise restraint guys. This guy isn't Shona in any way. You need to get the sarcasm. We don't say Twajamuka and every Shona worth his salt knows how to spell Matebeleland. This is just a skunk who is seeking publicity.

Warning to all ndebeles. As we shonas are embarking on a campaign to fix the situation of our country be waned that Zimbabwe problems have nothing to do with you ndebeles, people of Mathebeleland. We have said it again and again that you must stay away and must not participate or comment about what's happening in our country. These demonstrations, protest going on, video clip condemning corruption, eg thisflag movement, Tajwamuka, Dzamara issue, disaffection of war vets, are an initiative of shona speaking people. Zimbabwe political arena is not for you ndebeles it is for shona and it will continue dominated by us until we right the wrongs of our leaders. Any attempt that seeks a union with ndebeles will continuously be squashed eg in the case of MDC split, Mavambo Kusile and so on. You must have noticed by now that all songs and talks during protest, demonstration be it public or private be it in diaspora or in Zim, are done in shona. And in all these undertakings there is no mention of gukurahundi or marginalisation of Mathebeleland. Those are as per our 1979 Grand Plan. Zim would rather remain poor than create an opportunity that gives Ndebele leaders to raise their heads. Nonsensical Mthwakazi dreamers are like creepy-crawlies waiting to be trodden. We have invested a lot in that region.
