In a bizarre incident that left the villagers from Jotsholo shell shocked, a 13-year-old boy died after he was struck by a bolt of lightning when the sky was clear. 

Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Siphiwe Makonese, confirmed the death of Ozius Moyo, 13, at Lot Mpofu's homestead, Magwangwa village, Chief Mabhiwa, Jotsholo on Saturday afternoon.

She said Moyo had been sent to collect a pump in a bedroom hut belonging to his uncle Mpofu who was repairing his scotch cart that afternoon.

"Mpofu was repairing his scotch cart at his homestead and he then sent his nephew who is now deceased to his bedroom hut to collect a pump," she said.

Asst Insp Makonese said a bolt of lightning struck the bedroom hut where Moyo was collecting the pump.

"Mpofu rushed to the bedroom hut and found Ozius lying dead on the floor. He made a report to the police who attended the scene. The deceased had burns on the left side of the body and the hut had cracks all over," she said.
 
Asst Insp Makonese said the postmortem was waived by Lupane magistrate since no foul play was suspected.
