Harare’s eastern suburbs were this morning hit by violent protests that left hundreds of city-bound commuters stranded as angry crowds fought with police. Police responded by deploying armed police who then unleashed a terror of violence on the protesters.
But unconfirmed reports indicate that one police officer was killed in the tussle. Efforts to verify the reports were futile as police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba's mobile phone went unanswered until the time of publication.
The image above shows the daring protesters wearing police regalia, apparently after beating and undressing one of the riot cops.
