Mashonaland Central will be the centre of attraction as it host this year's national launch of Culture Week celebrations for the first time at Bindura University from the 19th to the 25th of this month.
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe Deputy Director, Nicholas Moyo says the arts board is ready to host culture week celebrations which will be held across the country and both the national and provincial programs have been drafted.
The celebrations will run under the theme “Empowerment Through Cultural Initiatives” and is hoped to showcase various arts activities that include traditional dance and medicines, crafts and mbira exhibitions among other activities.
The Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity by UNESCO in 2001 proclaimed 21st May the world day of cultural diversity for dialogue and development..
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe coordinates the weeklong commemorative events around 21 May of each year to mark this day.
