Patron of Zimbabwe Union of Musicians, who is also Media, Information and Publicity Minister, Webster Shamu has urged young musicians to take the art of composing music seriously saying musicians are the cultural ambassadors of Zimbabwe.
Shamu was speaking at the official launch of sungura musician Romeo Gasa's latest CD album, Simbi Hombe in Harare.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Acting Director of Urban Communications in the Ministry of Media, Information and Publicity, Collins Mungate, Shamu paid tribute to the upcoming musician saying musicians are cultural ambassadors to the country and as such should emulate other musicians like the late Simon Chopper Chimbetu, Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso.
Releasing the 3rd album, Simbi Hombe, Romeo Gasa said he is confident the album will make a mark in the music industry and that his partnership with diamond studios will take him to greater heights.
The young artist rose to fame in 2007 after clinching the first prize at the Annual Chibuku Road to Fame competition.
Gasa now boasts of two other albums to his name namely Sungura Kompressor and Mufaro Kwamuri.
The Chinhoyi-based artist made his debut live shows in Harare last year and has had a thrilling response from revellers.
Deservingly, hundreds of music fans who attended the Romeo Gasa's CD album launch said they were impressed by the young man's exceptional talent on stage.
