RED-HOT Southern Region Division One Soccer League leading scorer with eight goals from nine matches Nhlanhla Ndlovu of Amagagasi trained with Highlanders yesterday, a week after trying his luck at Dynamos.

The speedy 23-year-old striker’s conversion rate in the lower league has not only attracted interest from the country’s big two, but also South African National First Division side Black Leopards.

Amagagasi chairman Sam Sibanda said unlike when the player went for Dynamos trials without their consent, they cleared him to try his luck at Bosso.

Ndlovu comes to Highlanders bubbling with confidence after saving the day for Amagagasi on Sunday when he scored the winner in a derby against Victoria Falls Tigers less than 24-hours after arriving in the resort town from his Dynamos trial stint.

That goal against Tigers ensured Amagagasi maintained top spot on the league table and stretched their unbeaten run to nine games. They sit on 25 points, one more than second placed former Premier Soccer League side Bantu Rovers.

“It’s true that we’ve had requests for the boy to attend trials at Black Leopards, but that came after we had agreed with Highlanders that he will train with them for three days. If he is to go to South Africa, it will probably be next week,” said Sibanda.

Ndlovu looked comfortable training with Bosso at Barbourfields Stadium and one could see his eagerness to impress coach Erol Akbay.

With Knox Mutizwa set to join Bidvest Wits in the South African Premiership next month, Highlanders are in dire need of a replacement that will solve their attacking puzzle and complement player of the moment Prince Dube.

Of course, Bosso have veteran Ralph Matema and Kasimero Chimbadzwa as some of their attacking forwards, but the former is prone to injuries and the latter is yet to settle, meaning they need someone bubbling with confidence to help Dube upfront.

Besides Ndlovu, Highlanders are also assessing speedy winger Shepherd Gadzikwa, 23, of Victoria Falls Tigers.
