MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai's decision to announce the addition of two more vice presidents to the party has created calamity, as party spokesperson Obert Gutu, and Tsvangirai's spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka are at war over party duties.
Zimbabwean Political parties have been accused of post duplication, with ZANU PF being labeled as the chief architect.
The fallout is alleged to have come up after Tamborinyoka issued a number of statements on the appointments of Elias Mudzuri and Nelson Chamisa, over stepping the duties of Gutu as national spokesperson.
Gutu posted on his Facebook page, denying having any information about the appointments, therefore referring any questions to, Tamborinyoka.
“As the MDC-T national spokesperson, kindly be advised that I have absolutely no comment to make on the appointments for the office of the vice president that were announced at a Press conference in Harare on July 15, 2016. I refer all questions and/or enquiries to president Morgan Tsvangirai,” said Gutu in his post.
Some party members are reportedly throwing a tantrum over Gutu's Facebook post saying he is no longer doing his duty by referring the media to Tsvangirai.
However Gutu refuted that his statement was posted in rage, but said Tamborinyoka had already issued statements regarding the issue, hence he can not say more.
“I really should not dwell on petty issues that seek to divide rather than unite the MDC. Luke Tamborinyoka is the presidential spokesperson and director of communications in our party. I am the national party spokesperson. Already, official statements have been publicly disseminated regarding the appointment of two additional vice presidents by president Morgan Tsvangirai,” he said.
Tamborinyoka was not readily available when reached for a comment on the issue.
