Zimbabwe National army school, Parachute Battalion Primary School took a director of a local vehicle importing company to court following a botched deal for a school bus which saw the latter loosing $110 000
Gumford Automotive (Pvt) (Ltd) director Samson Madzonga was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe and was remanded to August 31 on $200 bail coupled with stringent conditions.
According to the State, sometime in September 2013 the army school development committee and parents agreed to raise funds for the purchase of a school bus.
The State alleges, the committee sourced quotations from various suppliers and settled for Madzonga’s company for the supply of a 63-seater Yutong bus from China.
The State alleges on September 5 last year the school transferred a total of $110 000 from its account to Gumford Automotive’s bank account and Madzonga promised to deliver the bus by the end of December last year.
However, during the period extending from January to June this year, Madzonga is alleged to have given empty promises prompting the school to make a report to the police, leading to his arrest.
The State further alleges, investigations by the police revealed that from September to October last year, Madzonga’s bank statement was at $33,25 and out of the $110 000 nothing was recovered.
