A Midlands State University student has been hurled before the courts facing charges of being found in possession of dagga (Mbanje).
Anesu Chido Nyamwanza (21) of Vainona, Harare, pleaded guilty before magistrate Elijah Makomo.
Nyamwanza was ordered to pay a fine of $100 or risk spending one month in jail.
Prosecutor, Francisca Mukumbiri alleged that police were tipped off by a source that Nyamwanza was dealing in drugs at Beer Engine, Jameson Hotel, in Harare.
Police went to the hotel.
They searched Nyamwanza and found him in possession of 0,18 kg of dagga worth $18 and he was subsequently arrested.
Nyamwanza did not deny the charges saying he was in desperate need of money to fund his studies.
The court noted that he was a first offender and it also noted that Nyamwanza wanted to finish his studies.
