A man who killed his wife, a lecturer at Midlands State University over infidelity accusations last month, allegedly hired hit-men to kill the woman's suspected boyfriend, who is also a lecturer at the same institute.
Fred Shavi, 68, of Southdowns Suburb in Gweru is alleged to have on approached Mtokozisi Dube and Gift Lunga at Insukamini, Lower Gweru and hired them to kill Prosper Maburo for him whom he suspected was having an affair with his wife, Netsai Ncube.
The duo were promised $600 each and a vehicle for their services. Dube and Lunga reported Shavi to Gweru Rural Police who set a trap for him.
Shavi requested that the two hit-men bring Maburo's eyes as evidence that they had done their job.
Once Shavi had heard word of the alleged success of the hired hit-men, he killed his wife and cut communication with the two.
Shavi first appeared in court in February charged with the murder of his wife, Netsai Ncube.
Yesterday he appeared before the courts facing one count of incitement to murder.
Shavi is expected back in court on April 11 for the alleged murder of Ncube.
