Satanism scares have engulfed Mbuyazwe community, on the outskirts of Bulawayo after it was suspected that pupils were practicing a satanic ritual by cutting themselves and exchanging blood.
It was discovered that some pupils at Mbuyazwe Primary school were in the habit of cutting themselves on their hands and then exchanging blood through rubbing the bleeding wounds together.
Elders made an investigation into the issue but failed to bring a solemn understanding to it hence leading to claims that it is a satanist ritual.
A resident at Mbuyazwe compound stated that it was not normal for primary school children to do such a thing, and even not to be afraid to cut themselves.
Efforts to get a comment from village head, Ngoma, were fruitless as he was said to be at work in Nyamayendlovu but his daughter confirmed the saga as true.
the children were counseled about the dangers of exchanging blood, but some parents still complain of finding fresh cuts on their children.
Bulawayo Provincial education director, Dan Moyo said he was not aware of the issue.
Mbuyazwe Primary School is located 30 kilometers outside Bulawayo along the Nyamandlovu-Tsholotsho road.
