THREE traffic police officers appeared in court for allegedly receiving a $195 bribe from a driver after threatening to impound his vehicle.
Innocent Nduna ,30, Prosper Takawira ,24, and Abel Nyongani .24, from Harare Central Police Station were charged with extortion.
It is alleged that on 12 March the trio, alongside an accomplice yet to be identified used the police operation "Mushika shika wapera" to threaten and demand a bribe of $195 from a motorist.
The motorist payed them off but went to lodge a complaint at the Police General Headquarters, leading to the identification and arrest of the crew.
The complainant lost $195, and nothing was recovered.
They were denied bail and remanded in custody to April 1.
