Joseph Chinotimba, the Buhera South MP has called for the re-introduction of virginity tests by apostolic sects to safeguard girls from sexual abuse.
Chinotimba suggested that this practice will aid in the need to avoid child marriages.
He also castigated civil and human rights organisations who were calling for the ban of the practice yet it would contribute to the eradication of child marriages.
“Let us allow churches to continue virginity tests. I have realised that it is those girls that were constantly monitored who would be married quite well,” said Chinotimba.
He castigated parents who sent their girl children to universities without adequate provisions like money for food saying they were exposing them to the vagaries of sexual abuse.
