The Chronicle, a Bulawayo based daily broadsheet has apologised for a 'rogue' cartoon which insinuated that people from the country's Southern region are good at prostitution.
According to a statement issued by the paper's editor Mduduzi Mathuthu, the cartoonist Musapenda has been suspended for his careless behavior.
Below is a screenshot of the apology published in today's edition of the Chronicle.
The cartoon depicted scantily dressed ladies looking at a newspaper headline showing poor pass rates in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces and claiming they excel in commercial sex work.
The cartoon which viral on social media and courted the ire of the people of the region who demanded an apology and the immediate suspension of the cartoonist.
