Sungura artiste Obvious Mutani has sensationally taken an open spiwe at Alick Macheso's camp claiming that the immensely popular 'Kochekera' dance was stolen from him.
In an unsolicited interview, the guitarist said he first introduced the dance on his 2010 video called Makanonoka off his second album Toisa Kuvanhu.
"To say that Macheso is the one who started with the Kochekera dance will be a lie as I introduced it and even incorporated it on my video Makanonoka which I released back in 2010. Every dance routine that Macheso and his crew do on the Kochekera dance is no that video of mine that has received good airplay on ZTV. The dance appears on several clips and constantly," said Mutani.
When asked whether he also named the dance Kochekera, he said: "I didn't name the dance Kochekera, but we just called it Takakochekerana. We just performed the dance and never made it a special feature."
He added that Macheso's chanter Jonasi Kasamba once praised him after he watched the video.
"Kasamba even knows the video and he even gave comments towards it saying it is a beautiful video," he said.
Macheso's assistant manager Jethro Machanja could not shed more light on the issue as he kept on hanging the phone each time he was contacted to give his side of the story.
Meanwhile, the Waterfalls based musician - also known as Baba Sharon - says he will be releasing an accompanying DVD to his fifth album Saizvozvo Mukwasha that he released last year. Macheso, who once made headlines for shedding tears after shaking hands with President Mugabe is revealed that he also set to release his 2013 offering in due course.
