Bulawayo based civic organization, Victory Siyanqoba Trust will hold its inaugural Human rights Arts Gala in Gwanda at Ntephe Business Centre.
The gala dubbed “Setso sa Rona” is scheduled to take place on 27 February, under the theme: Human Rights Accesebility-Development for All.
Victory Siyanqoba director, Desire Moyo said the event will see nine theatre groups from nine villages participating in the event.
“The broader objective of the Gala is to enhance rural communities’ understanding of their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the Constitution,” Moyo revealed to Daily news.
Moyo said the gala will serve as an interface between the community and local government officials.
Moyo also said his organization realized that rural communities make little contributions to the full realization of their rights.
He said as a result, the organization conceptualizes the use of art as a means of conscientising the communities to know and celebrate their rights.
The gala is supported by the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust, in partnership with the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and the Danish International Development Copoperation (Danida)
