Popular South African actress Gail Mabalane has decided to speak about her departure from Mzansi Magic channel's Rockville.
Rumours have been circulating that Gail, who is married to kwaito star Kabelo Mabalane, decided with other cast members not to sign contracts for another season of the drama series.
She confirmed that she would be leaving Rockville, but she denied rumours that her husband, a part-time priest, had anything to do with her decision to leave the show in which she played the role of a prostitute.
Her manager said: "Her husband is, in fact, her biggest supporter and they have a lot of respect for each other's talent. But due to other commitments, Gail will not be able to commit to season two."
Sunday Sun last month reported that Minnie Dlamini, Tumi Morake and Luthuli Dlamini would also be leaving Rockville.
According to a source they were promised lead roles and were shocked to find that they were ordinary cast members.
There was also a rumour that Minnie was fired for bad behaviour.
Producer Connie Ferguson said: "Your sources clearly know things we don't.
"We can't comment on who's coming back because we want to keep the storyline a secret."
Minnie's manager, Phumza Nohashe, said she left because she had a schedule clash with her SABC sport commitments.
Tumi's management, Whackhead Entertainment, said she is be leaving because she is pregnant.
Rockville publicist Bongiwe Potelwa said: "The actors didn't leave because they were unhappy with their characters. It happened because no one knew there would be a second season."
