SAMA award-winning gospel singer S'fiso Ncwane apparently threw a tantrum at a gospel event.
Sunday Sun reported that the gospel singer was due to perform at the recent Blessed is the Hand that Gives event but he arrived apparently drunk.
Those who attended the Pretoria event said they were shocked when he insulted the organisers, gospel artists, producers and fans alike.
Event organiser Bame Maluleke, of JF Productions, told Sunday Sun that S'fiso started giving them problems after he was paid the booking money.
"We agreed on a R45 000 (US$4,500) fee for his performance, which we paid," said Bame. "We agreed that he would perform at 6.30pm, but when I called him, he told me stories.
"S'fiso arrived at the venue at 7.30pm and found other artists performing.
"He wanted to perform on the spot as he told me that he had to go to Mahoota's event in Bloemfontein," she said.
The angry promoter also said that S'fiso told her that he would either performed there and then or he would leave.
"He told me that he was not going to wait until late, as there was R60 000 (US$6,000) waiting for him somewhere.
He later climbed onto the stage and told his fans that he didn't care to perform as he was a star," said Bame.
This week, S'fiso said in his defence: "I did a favour for that company. My actual fee is R70 000 (US$7,000).
"Unfortunately I can't pay back that money. I arrived at the venue only 20 minutes late.
"As for those who said I was drunk: "Ngithi Baba baxolele abakwazi abakwenzayo (I say God forgive them for they know not what they are doing)."
