Her
controversial performance at the MTV VMAs just over a week ago still has everyone talking.
But one person has remained relatively and uncharacteristically silent about her raunchy stage show with Robin Thicke and that is the woman herself, Miley Cyrus.
That is until now, with the pop star breaking her silence to speak out about her onstage antics, which included grinding up against Thicke and touching the R&B singer seductively with a foam finger.
In an interview with MTV, the 20-year-old compared herself to Madonna and Britney Spears, who also made headlines when they locked lips during a passionate on air kiss 10 years ago at the 2003 VMAs.
The We Can't Stop songstress also revealed that Thicke was very much aware of what he was in for, and that they both knew 'they were about to make history'.
Speaking to MTV News in an exclusive interview, Miley said: 'I don't pay attention to the negative because I have seen this play out. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?
'You know now... you know what's happened. Madonna's done it, Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, anyone that performs...that's what you are looking for.
'You wanting to make history. Me and Robin the whole time said "You know you are about to make history right now?'
Miley also added that she loved the fact that people were still talking about the raunchy show.
'It is an amazing thing that I think now it is three days later and people are still talking about it,' she gushed.
And for all of those critics out there, Miley simply believes that they are just 'over thinking it'.
'They're over thinking it. You're thinking more about it than when I did it. Like I didn't even think about it because that is just me,' she said.
The former Disney star has been a hot topic of conversation for days after her extremely raunchy performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards.
Miley was seen twerking on Thicke during a duet of his hit Blurred Lines, while dressed in nude latex underwear and repeatedly sticking out her tongue, which appears to have a life of its own.
Miley is currently drumming up publicity for her new album Bangerz, and released promotional images for the record last week.
The new album is set for release in the U.S. on October 8 and includes Miley's hit single We Can't Stop and her new song Wrecking Ball.
