Kwaito Star and alleged police impersonator “Professor” Langa did not appear in court yesterday.
The media and dozens of his fans had rushed to the first floor of the Durban Magistrates Court to await his appearance.
Langa scooped an award at the Metro FM music awards held in Durban and decided, allegedly as a publicity stunt, to wear his cousin’s Durban Metro Police uniform to the function.
Among those present at the awards were Durban mayor James Nxumalo, who queried how it was that Langa could wear a Metro Police uniform and also wanted to know just where he had obtained the outfit.
On Monday, Durban Metro Police contacted the Kwaito star and on Tuesday, Langa attended an interview with Metro Police.
Durban Metro Police spokesman Eugene Msomi confirmed that an investigation had been launched into whether Langa’s cousin had been negligent in allowing a civilian to wear his uniform.
In an interview with Isolezwe, on Wednesday, Langa said he regretted wearing the uniform and he did not know that it would get him into trouble.
